On November 20, Järvamaa once again shone on Estonia's map as it celebrated outstanding businesses and civic initiatives during the prestigious "Järvamaa Tegusad" competition. Among this year’s notable winners was the Käru Museum of Strollers, which proudly earned the title of Best Tourist Destination. This accolade comes as no surprise, as the museum has become a true gem of the region, blending history, creativity, and hospitality.

The winner, widely known as the Käru Museum of Good Deeds, inspires visitors with its uniqueness. It’s not just a museum but a place where history comes alive, and vintage strollers become storytellers of tireless dedication and community spirit.

One of the museum’s most remarkable achievements is the opening of the Kerro Residence, a project brought to life through the EAS tourism development program. As part of the initiative, a 1930s building was lovingly restored and now offers apartments styled after the 1920s, 1930s, 1960s, and 1980s. This journey through decades captivates retro enthusiasts and seekers of extraordinary experiences alike.

In addition to its historical treasures, the museum has evolved into a cultural hub. A cozy café, perfect for discussing impressions over a cup of coffee, and an art gallery showcasing works by local artists make visiting the museum a complete and unforgettable experience.

Aljona Surzhikova, the museum’s director, acknowledges that this victory belongs to every member of the team:
"We are deeply grateful for this recognition. Our guides and volunteers put in incredible effort, balancing their main jobs with their work at the museum. Their enthusiasm and dedication have transformed our village into a place where people want to come back to."

Her sentiments are echoed by Järvamaa Council Chairman Sulo Särkinen:
"The Käru Museum of Strollers is a prime example of how a small initiative can grow into a significant tourist attraction. We are proud of projects like this, which create jobs and inspire others."

This year’s "Järvamaa Tegusad" competition received a record-breaking 66 applications, highlighting the region’s growing innovation and activity. Held for the 15th time, the competition awarded Käru Museum of Strollers not only with a trophy but also with a powerful validation of its importance.

This museum isn’t just about strollers. It’s a journey into the past, an opportunity to experience the spirit of different decades, enjoy culture, and immerse yourself in a world of creativity. For visitors, the museum is a source of inspiration, and for locals, it’s a symbol of progress and community unity.
